In the basement of Palazzo Corgna, precisely where the Taverna welcomes guests during the Palio, the Monumental Nativity is displayed, a tradition that has been preserved since 1967.
Since that inaugural edition, the Nativity Scene of Città della Pieve has become one of the most significant in Italy, attracting thousands of visitors each year, thanks to the creativity and skill of dedicated artisans who work tirelessly from early October until Christmas.
Utilizing the characteristic stone caves as the backdrop for the scenes, the Nativity incorporates water, sound, and light effects to create a mystical and sensory experience.
From December 25th to January 6th, visitors are guided through a series of tableaux inspired by the Old Testament, the life and works of Christ, and contemporary themes, with a particular focus on solidarity, coexistence among peoples, and peace.
